Togo: Yellow fever vaccination |
|
For the last 20 years, Togo’s two northernmost regions (Kara and Savanes) hadn’t seen a single case of yellow fever – a potentially deadly virus transmitted by mosquitoes. In late 2006, three cases were confirmed, prompting quick reaction from the WHO and Togolese Ministry of Health to carry out a vast vaccination campaign. In February 2007, about 1.3 million people of all ages were vaccinated in Northern Togo. All photographs copyright WHO/Olivier Asselin. |
